Makerspaces (VIA University College)

At VIA University College's Makerspaces students find room for hands-on experiments with design processes and sustainable solutions by creating their own designs. And now the teachers and students have access to New Waste materials from THE UPCYCL - making circular economy a concrete practical solution.

Overall, THE UPCYCL’s approach to circular economy aligns well with how we work with sustainability at VIA.It's about taking care of our resources and the materials we use. When students work in the Makerspace, we want to ensure easy access to materials – so we don’t always need to buy new but can utilize resources that a company might otherwise discard. In this way, we support the circular mindset. And the collaboration with THE UPCYCL helps reinforce this, making us better at integrating circular economy into our Makerspace.

8 makerspaces across Denmark are already part of the initiative

Together, VIA and THE UPCYCL can create a strong synergy, where hands-on learning and the practical application of circular principles go hand in hand — fostering a future where waste materials can easily be upcycled at VIA University College.

Hopefully, it will serve as an inspiration for more universities to integrate New Waste materials and implement circular economy principles in a practical and creative way.
